Bio:
Professional
I graduated with a B.Tech. degree in Chemical Engineering securing University Rank 1 from Sri Venkateswara University in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh in the year 2003. Further, I completed M.Tech. degree in Materials Science and Engineering (Polymers) from IIT Kharagpur in the year 2005. After my M.Tech. I had a brief stint at CEAT Ltd. in Bhandup, Mumbai prior to moving to USA for doctoral studies. I got enrolled at Cornell University for a Ph.D. program initially but later transferred to Texas A&M University in College Station, TX from where I received my Ph.D. degree in Materials Science and Engineering in the year 2010. My Ph.D. research was primarily focused on controlling the dispersion state of nanoparticles using stimuli-responsive polymers. After Ph.D., I worked for Intel Corporation in U.S.A as a Technology Development Process Engineer from Jan 2011 to May 2014 prior to relocating to India due to personal reasons. At Intel, my work spanned in the areas of reactive ion etching and materials development for high density interconnect applications. After moving to India, I took up a temporary assignment with IIT Madras as an Institute Post Doctoral Fellow during Nov 2014–Aug 2015 and later joined as a faculty member (Associate Professor grade) in the department of Chemical Engineering in Vignan’s (Deemed to be) University in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh. At Vignan, I served as both Head, Chemical Engineering and Dean, Academic Affairs during 2016-2018. I have 8 journal publications and my research has been cited 282 times. I have delivered several invited and regular presentations at various conferences in USA and India. I am the recipient of Prof. Y. Nayudamma memorial medal (2004), TRFA’s excellence in thermoset polymer research (2010) and Intel’s Division Award (2012). I am passionate about materials research and I strongly believe that innovations at this end will make this world a great place to live.
Personal
I grew up in the northern parts of India. I did my basic schooling in several different schools spread across India, due to the transferable nature of my father's job. This gave me an opportunity to learn about different cultures within India (please click here to know more about cultural diversity in India). During the 9+ years that I stayed in the U.S., I learnt about different cultures prevailing around the world. My wife, Kiranmayee is a medical doctor and holds a M.D degree in pathology from Osmania Medical College. She is currently working as a Consultant Pathologist with the Birla Sarvajanik Hospital in Pilani, Rajasthan. Kiran and I are blessed with a cute little daughter Smiti who is attending 2nd Grade in Birla School Pilani. In our leisure time, we like to watch movies, shop, eat out or talk about various aspects of medicine and science.
